Mr. Henry Joseph Evelyn Ray-Smith 
Henry is a first-year student at St. Joseph’s College and has been studying at St. Joseph’s Primary School for the past six years. He started piano lessons at the age of six and trumpet lessons from teacher Mr. Mak at the age of seven. He discovered that he was also very interested and talented in singing so he began to learn vocal performance. In the past six years he has actively participated in different music competitions. He has achieved excellent results every year at the Hong Kong Schools Music Festival, including first and third place in Vocal solo in 2022 and 2023, and in piano and trumpet won the championship in both 2021 and 2023 reaching Gold Medal level.
In 2019, Henry went to Vienna, Austria with the school choir and school orchestra of St. Joseph’s Primary School to participate in the Austria-China Profound Arts Festival music exchange. This experience inspired him to further his musical studies.
At St. Joseph’s Primary School Henry was a member of the Symphonic Band, School Orchestra, and School Choir. Now at St. Joseph’s College he is a member of the school’s Music Society.
In addition to music, Henry is an excellent student at school. During the past three years in primary school, he was the school’s prefect, assisting the teachers in taking care of the younger students and being a role model for them. He has also achieved excellent results in other extracurricular activities. For example, Henry has represented Hong Kong at swimming having won second place in the Southern China Tournament 50-meter backstroke in 2023. He has also achieved top results in local swimming championships many times. Additionally, Henry has attained top results in the Hong Kong Schools Speech Festival competitions every year. This year Henry won the Hong Kong Student Sport Award and Outstanding Member 2023 of HK Community Youth Club and was nominated for the Scout of the Year.
